In Praise of Stupidity
May 25th, 2008Jerome K Jerome was my farther favorite author. He particularly enjoyed “Three Men in a Boat”. He was also a doctor and I fancy he, like I, particularly liked the section where the narrator goes through the medical dictionary. Like the experience of every medical student, he is convinced he has each and every ailment he reads about.
I’ve often though hypochondria and stupidity are a bad combination.![]()
Jerome K. Jerome doesn’t comment on the hypochondriacs. But he does express his endearment to the intellectually challenged in one of his famous, if scurrilous quotes.
“It is so pleasant to come across people more stupid than ourselves. We love them at once for being so.”
